My parents were born and raised in Pennsylvania.  Jim's parents were raised in Chicago and Baltimore.

My parents migrated to California in late 50's when Dad got out of the Army.  Jim's Dad met  his mother in Baltimore (stationed there), and they married, and moved to Chicago where most of their known "Popp" family is located (all over the Northern Illinois area).

Immigration:

My Mother's grandfather's family immigrated from Italy, after traveling and working around Europe.  The immigration happened due to Mussolini taking over the country and taking over their financial businesses in Italy  My mother's father (Raymond Sr) was a 1st generation American.

My Mother's Mom's side of the family were in New York, England before that.  They lived in Tioga County, New York, before her grandmother escaped the family and married Isaiah Rhoades in Pennsylvania.

My Dad's 1st immigrant was also from Ireland.  He was named David, and there have been 6 generations of David McClelland's ever since.

The 1st Moore immigrant was here in the early 1800's with 2 other Children, smuggled by a ship captain to protect him from Napoleon's draft. And  proceeded to have 17 children, all but 3 survived.  My 1st arrival relative, was stationed in Baltimore at the fort, where Francis Scott Key, on a boat in the water of that bay wrote, "The Star Spangled Banner", in the war with the English. The family has land on a place called Chestnut Hill in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania and a lot of the Moore relatives still live up in that area.

 The most surprising thing about the 1st generation of the family, was that all 8 brothers were in the Civil War, and returned safely from the war, which was very rare.  Before the war, the family, started to scatter to Wisconsin Illinois, Nebraska, Iowa, etc.  Then the fun begins tracking them all.
